Shirena Vasan
Shirena’s journey into writing began with the simple joy of reading rhyming stories to her young children. That bonding time sparked her first book, crafted especially for the youngest readers and listeners. She delights in turning everyday moments into adventures, weaving curiosity and gentle suspense into each page. A passionate advocate for early literacy, Shirena nurtured a love of books in her two children and now hopes to share that same joy with other families.
Do you try more to be original, or to deliver to readers what they want?
My writing is based (sometimes loosely) on real life experiences.
What is it about your chosen genre that you love?
I love children’s books! I enjoy rhyming books for the youngest of readers. They spark interest and engagement through patterns and ‘tunes’ which is kind of musical.
Picture books are awesome as they nurture children’s imaginations and creativity through language and illustrations.
How do you select the names of your characters?
Their dad is great at coming up with names based on behaviours. He came up with Wrigglymasaurus!
How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?
Hmmm…. a few.
