Finding the dog might just be murder.

On the surface it seems like an easy case for private investigator Nicolette Briggs. Retrieve a stolen dog from her client's ex-husband, Richard Townsend. But things are never that easy. Soon the husband ends up dead, and the dog is nowhere to be found. To make matters worse, Nicolette is accused by the police of being involved in the murder.
